Wedding always makes a story – 1

It was about 3 years ago when I was in tenth class. We had some after wedding functions at my hometown. It was January and I had my final exams next month. Because of my cousin brother’s wedding, my study was already disturbed so I took my book with me to study.

I was not so interested in those after wedding functions and I had enjoyed the wedding a lot so I used to stay in my room most of the time. It was my second day there and I was in my room. My room was the first room you’ll see when you enter our house, beside the hall but it was aside of much attention.

When you enter the main door, you’ll see the hall and then the rest of the house but my room won’t have much attention till the last or you know my house. No one stays there when we are in Delhi so it’s not much maintained. Like it was years ago it’s the same.

Cupboard with the wall and a big mirror beside it and many old photos of my family all around the wall, no table or wooden bed, but bed on the floor, but yes it was very smooth and comfortable, that’s why chose this room to stay, comfortable and alone and I can see all but they can’t see me if I close it.

It was a quiet place to study. Most of the time I was all alone in the house. Most of the room used to be locked and dark and you can hear me reading if you listen carefully standing along my room window on the road. And that was the reason my bhuha ( Aunty ), she is my father’s sister in far relation but was an only 20-year old that time.

She heard me reading and she came in to meet me. I was there for a day now but most of them didn’t know, because I didn’t go out of my house, not once until mom or someone told them. She came and sat with me and we talked for a while. She got a call and she went.

In the evening she came and asked me to go with her to the temple and attend the function. I said that I would prefer to stay and study but she insisted and said that’s we’ll study in the night but now we should go to the program. I agreed. She said that she would be waiting outside and she went out.

I kept my books aside and went to the bathroom. I washed my face and got dressed. We went to the program and Yes I enjoyed being there. It was very good and cheerful to see all the relatives and almost every person in the village enjoying together.

A scene you don’t see in cities. It was 8 of the night and I was very hungry so bhuhaji took me to her house and we had our dinner and then we went to my home. I started studying and she sat with me. We were talking while studying. I was doing my maths so I didn’t know when the time passed to 11 and when she slept.

I heard some ladies talking and my mom and a few more ladies entered the house. They came into my room because the rest of the rooms were locked and they were very tired. But when they saw me studying they turned there way but I asked them to sit and rest because I too was tired of math by now. And they all sat.

I kept my books aside and brought some warm water for them. We were talking a lot and enjoy. I was not speaking much but they were telling me stories of our family and I was enjoying a lot. Meanwhile, bhuhaji also woke up and joined us.

She was sleeping beside me so when she woke up she kept her head on my thighs and joined me with listening part as she too was on the young side. After a while, the talk went to an interesting incident which happened with my father and his friends a few years ago at the famous Hanuman temple of our region.

They told me that the temple is a good place to visit and I must attend the evening prayer, it would be good for my exams too and I can also see the garden of the temple where my father used to play.

Because everyone was busy with the function, so the next day bhuhaji took me to the temple. We left at 4 pm and reached the temple at 5. It was Tuesday so the crowd was double than any normal day.

We bought some sweet and flower and joined the line. It was a huge line. She was in front of me and I was right behind her. It was not much outside but as we reached the temple gallery, it was so crowded that it will be difficult even for a fly to pass.

There was passage made with barricades which takes us to the front and take blessing from the Hanuman Murti and to the exit. It was a good system that gives everyone the opportunity to be on the front but this makes the process very slow.

There were a number of rows along the gallery and the hall but a single row in the front. We reach the hall after half an hour and we were still about 50 meters from the front and it got about double crowded and Messy as we reached the hall.

to be continued …
